    Great News!!!!!!!!!

    Football Foundation Grant Approved

We recently applied for a grant from the Football Foundation, which is a group funded by the FA Premier League, the Football Association, Sport England and the Government.

We have now received conformation that we have been successful in our application and have received a voucher for £400 worth of equipment.

The scheme was primarily set up to supply grass roots teams with kits; luckily all our teams have good quality kits that are not more than one season old.

So the grant will be used to supply all the clubs teams with equipment that will help to improve all aspects of training and match sessions. This will i

4    Nike Total 90 Team 400 match balls

20               Nike Total 90 Team 250G training balls

      42               Drinks bottles

      7                    Drinks bottles carriers

      1                    Nike Team Kit Bag

      2                    Nike Ball Bags

As you can see this kit will benefit the whole club and in three years time when the present team kits are in need of replacement we will be eligible to reapply to the scheme for another grant.

    Soccer Star Challenge.

Over the past few weeks we have been carrying out the FA’s Soccer Star Challenge with the under 12’s and the under 14’s.

The whole aim of the challenge is for the girls to gauge their ability at the beginning of the season and to highlight weaker areas that they can improve on. We intend to carry out the Challenge again at the end of the season and hopefully with better results, this will also show both the girls and their parents how much they have improved.

As I have said to all of the girls this is not a test to see who is the best players in the club it is purely for self improvement. Of course with the self improvement will come a better all round team and hopefully a better season for both teams.

The challenge has six sections , running with the ball, dribbling, speed, shooting, heading and turning. Each girl being tested on all six sections and differing scores are  required for each age group.

The results are inputted into the FA’s website and a Star rating is given for each child. This also generates a certificate which will be given to each child.

The girls have so far found the test to fun and have enjoyed taking part. They have all tried very hard and have achieved a good base standard. With the only real problem proving to be the heading test for the over 11’s, were they are required to score a goal with a header from 18 yards.

WELL DONE TO ALL WHO TOOK PART!
