Shield Semi Final Gosport Ladies U14’s V Winchester City Flyers B U14’s
Team=Rose-Chelsea-Abby-Lauren-Hope-Jenny Subs=Sasha-Emily.D-Emma Team Sponsor- Ziffy Net
We all met at 10.00, outside Grange. Everyone was on time and ready to go! So we set off to Winchester’s Garrison Ground for our shield semi final. We arrived early and cheered on the U12’s. The girls warmed up, had a team talk and the game began. The match got off to a start, the flyers seemed much better than what we expected (that’s why I say don’t under estimate the opposition!!), with some good runs, well handle by the defenders, Abby and Lauren. We also were on the attack with some brilliant linked play between Chelsea, Jenny and Hope, they also got off some great shots which flyers keeper did well to save. The match was very similar through out the first half with lots of dangerous balls coming into each teams areas, but they where handled well. Emma set up Emily.D for a shot, which she was unlucky not to score. Flyers had a attack on goal which was cleared by Sasha. Late in the first half a flyers striker had a excellent run which the defenders where unluckily to late to close down, Rose came out and knocked the ball the striker managed to win the ball and have a shot the ball dipped in towards the net, the whistle blew, goal, fans and players didn’t agree but the Ref’s decision was final. Shortly after the whistle blew for half time. 1-0 to the flyers. The second half got underway, both teams where defending and attacking, a Gosport attack on the flyers lead to a corner, Chelsea stepped up for the corner, she struck the ball and it looked like a good corner but was far better than what was expected, it went straight into the bottom corner of the flyers net. (Well done Chelsea that was a fantastic goal!) 1-1. The flyers where straight back on the attack and unexpectedly, the defenders where caught off guard a flyers striker came to the edge of the area, rose moved in, she shot, rose dived, but not quite far enough, 2-1 to the flyers. Gosport weren’t giving that easily, the fans where cheering and there was still plenty of time, the girls heads where up and they went on the attack hope chipped the ball over to Chelsea, she ran it towards the corner crossed it into the box, where jenny awaited and made it count, she smacked the ball past the keeper, evening the score back out to 2-2. Time was running out the match played on with no goals, all positions playing brilliantly. An attack on the flyers lead to another corner, Chelsea stepped up again, another good corner from Chelsea sent the ball into Hope’s head, but would all that header practice pay off, yes! it had, hope had scored a fab header. Chelsea took the pleasure in starting a bundle on top of Hope! The whistle blew for the end of the match! Few! 3-2 to Gosport. Comments Brilliant spirit on Saturday girls, you kept your heads up and came back from behind twice. Well done girls, you all played great and made me proud to say I’m your coach! Thanks again Parents, the girls wouldn’t be at the matches with out the rides and the support really does help, so thanks. Well done, through to the final! Gosport ladies U14 v Southampton Saints U14 Saturday 11th March Team=Rose-Abbey-Lauren-Chelsea-Jenny-Hope Subs=Bronwyn-Emily N-Emily D Team sponsor Ziffy net Ok girls firstly sorry for the delay in this report and sorry if it’s a bit short, as you know it’s quite hard to ref and report at the same time. Anyway, it was a lovely morning and the Saints team turned up on time and were really up for the match, we had a full strength squad who were equally up for it against the old enemy. As I had to Ref Andy (Emily D’s dad) stood in as manager(Cheers mate) Well the first half showed that we are a good attacking side that can pass and move on our day. We had loads of possession with the midfield and attackers having plenty of shots on target, the first goal came after about ten minutes of play and was a cracking shot from Chelsea that took a slight deflection to beat the Saints keeper.1-0 The second was from Chelsea again, sorry but must be getting old and I cannot remember the details, anyway I’m sure it was a good goal at the end of the day they all count. 2-0 Our defence did well to having to deal with some strong attackers who knew how to put the defence under all sorts of pressure. Again missed their goal. 2-1 half time The second half was even more advent full with goals from Hope and Chelsea (Hat trick hero) a penalty that just beat Rose and the Saints Goalie having to be substituted due to injury. In the end 4-2 was a true reflection of the game, it was great to see us do the double over Southampton and with some style at that. WELL DONE to ALL THAT PLAYED Woman of the match (chosen by Southampton Saints Manager) Chelsea Dave Wade ,Under 14’s manager
